The Jokers wouldn't be the Jokers without an array of social events throughout the year. How else are you going to get to know the REAL side of your fellow members?

The following are the annual social events that we normally hold in addition to Club Nights. To see what's coming up next, see ‘Upcoming Events’ for information.

  • SEPTEMBER

Let the Season Begin!......Jokers Open Day
The Open Day is a Saturday afternoon (between 2 – 4pm), drop-in event, where players can get all the information and equipment they need to start the season. Players can purchase uniforms, pay their dues, pick up team equipment, meet their coaches, ask questions of the Jokers Executive, purchase Rookie Night tickets and generally hang out at the Club and have fun! Rookie Night
As the first social event of the season, Rookie Night is the perfect opportunity for old team-mates to catch up from last year and new members to see what we're really all about! It takes place in the Carver Bar at the clubhouse and there's plenty of food, drinks and games all night. Each team nominates their “Rookies” for the season and for this honour, the Rookies are treated to lots of fun, games and FREE BEER! More information for this year here.

  • DECEMBER

Christmas Dinner & Dance
Although, Jokers never really need an excuse to party, Christmas has to be the best excuse there is! This party is the social event highlight of the year. Hockey players dress up in their finest attire to enjoy dinner, dancing, prizes, drinks specials and plenty of socializing in the seasonally decorated Harbour Room of the Vancouver Rowing Club.

  • APRIL

Awards Night
The Awards Night is the final social event of the season and in true ‘Grand Finale’ style it is a chance for us to award our top players and thank and recognize our many volunteers. This ‘must see’ event also takes place in the Harbour Room and offers a chance for teams to gather in support of their finest, enjoy a freshly cooked burger, participate in the ever popular 50/50 draw and generally have a lot of fun before the teams break for the summer!

  • SUMMERTIME

However , never fear, the end of the winter season, does not mean the end of Joker socials…..the summertime offers the Vancouver International Tournament (VIT) at which we host the Beer Garden and always have the most fun of all the teams. Mixed summer drop-in is possibly the most enjoyable hockey of the summer and then there’s the ORCA festival, the only grass field festival in BC and one which the Jokers always attend and enjoy!
