Volunteering is not only a good way to meet the people within the Section and the rest of the Club, it all brings tangible benefits by controlling the section's expenses. Within the Section, the Club and the sport as a whole, volunteering is the best way we have of controlling costs.

People can donate time and services through the following routes:
Election to one of the Rowing Executive positions

  • Treasurer
  • Rowing BC Representative
  • Safety Officer
  • Social Representative
  • Regatta Representative

Assisting the Rowing Coordinator, primarily with Learn To Row regattas.

Each Executive Officer is responsible for a range of activities that are defined under the section Bylaws, Rules and procedures. There are some positions that require more assistance than others:

  • Equipment Manager - maintenance of the shells and shell bay.
  • Social Representative - putting on the various section and Club social functions.
  • Volunteer Coordinator - organizing small projects around the Club.

From time to time there will be work parties with the equipment manager or calls for volunteers for committee work as well. Generally the Section membership will be made aware of them through the "All Rowers" distribution list. Details as how to join this list are in the shell bay.

If you notice someone making a difference, please let someone on the Executive know. We take the time to recognize people at the Executive meeting and will also at the Captain’s dinner at the end of the Rowing Season.
